Audi’s compact luxury all-electric SUV, the Q4 e-tron, will make its long-awaited Australian debut in the fourth quarter of the year, ushering in a new all-electric chapter for the Audi brand Down Under.
In total four model variants will be available at launch with a rear-wheel drive model designated Q4 45 e-tron available in both SUV and Sportback configurations (both priced from $88,300*), and a Q4 55 e-tron model featuring electric quattro all-wheel drive also available in both SUV ($108,500*) and Sportback ($109,500*) body styles.
Both variants use an 82 kWh battery (77 kWh net) to power their respective electric motors – one in the case of the Q4 45 e-tron and two for its quattro, Q4 55 e-tron siblings. Power for the 45 model is 210kW, which delivers a 0 to 100km/h time of 6.7 seconds, while DC charging capacity is up to 135kW.
The Q4 55 e-tron quattro outputs 250kW and hits 100km/h from stop in just 5.4 seconds as well as offering a charging capacity of up to 175kW.
In addition to their fast charging, both models offer three-stage coasting recuperation which is controlled by the driver using the wheel-mounted panels, as well as braking regeneration of up to 0.3 g.
The model options offer impressive specification across the board, starting with the Q4 45 e-tron models ($88,300*) which boast metallic paint, LED daytime running lights and electric tailgate operation as standard as well as electric wing mirrors which are heated and foldable. The SUV configuration rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and features roof rails while the Sportback variant rides on larger 20-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the Q4 45 e-trons come with leatherette upholstery with heated front seats that also feature lumbar support and are four-way adjustable. The driver’s seat has the added benefit of electric adjustment while convenience key, storage package and three-zone climate control are also standard inclusions.
In terms of infotainment, MMI navigation plus, Audi smartphone interface and Audi’s virtual cockpit are all standard fare as well as the phone box light and an Audi sound system.
As always, safety is a major priority and the Q4 45 e-trons come standard with high-beam assist and rear view camera as well as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, side assist and pre sense basic front and rear.
Specification is impressive and covers styling, equipment and safety systems across the models
The arrival of Audi’s Q4 e-tron models will see the brand’s all-electric offering Down Under expand to 10 vehicles
Step up to the Q4 55 e-tron models and the offering is even more impressive, with all of the aforementioned equipment as well as a host of other highlights. Both the SUV and Sportback feature Audi S line exterior styling along with Matrix LED lights and LED tail lights. The Q4 55 e-tron SUV ($108,500*) rides on 20-inch alloy wheels while the Sportback version ($109,500*) features the larger 21-inch wheels.
Inside front seats are sports items and electrically operated, with the driver’s seat and exterior mirrors also featuring memory function. The 55 models also feature the multi-function steering wheel with flat top and bottom and the Audi virtual cockpit plus on top of all of the other features in the 45 models. These top specification models also build on the safety and assistance offering in the 45 models, adding 360 degree cameras for ease of manoeuvrability in tight spaces as well as park assist and active lane assist.
The arrival of Audi’s Q4 e-tron models will see the brand’s all-electric offering Down Under expand to 10 vehicles, with the four Q4 e-tron models joining the Q8 50 e-tron and Q8 Sportback 55 e-trons, the recently released SQ8 e-trons available in SUV and Sportback configurations and the range-topping Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT electric supercars.
